My Role

Design Decisions
This job aid uses a scannable, one-page format to provide managers with a quick reference tool before difficult conversations. The 5-step framework is grounded in conflict resolution best practices and adult learning principles, allowing managers to prepare confidently and follow a clear structure during high-stakes conversations.
The visual hierarchy guides managers from preparation (PREP method) through conversation structure to follow-up actions. “Do This / Don’t Do This” examples provide immediate application, while clear escalation guidelines ensure managers know when to involve HR.
Challenges & Next Steps
As a static infographic, this demonstrates a concise instructional design approach. Given more time and tools, an interactive digital version could include clickable scenario examples, embedded video coaching, or integration into an LMS with reflection prompts and manager peer discussion forums.
This job aid is designed as one component of a broader manager development program. Additional modules in development would cover active listening techniques, emotional regulation strategies, and specific conversation types (performance issues, terminations, conflict mediation).
