Design Decisions
This module combines scenario-based learning with a summative quiz to reflect the dual demands of staff training: building both judgment and knowledge. Scenarios were drawn from realistic camp situations, allowing learners to practice decision-making in context before being assessed on key concepts.
The design draws on adult learning theory (Andragogy), grounding content in situations staff are likely to encounter on the job. The residential camp context adds emotional complexity to the scenarios, reflecting the reality that homesickness management requires empathy as much as procedure.
Challenges & Next Steps
For a future iteration, the scenarios would be expanded in Articulate Storyline to allow deeper branching and more nuanced consequence feedback. The quiz would also be developed into a more robust assessment with remediation loops, directing learners back to relevant content based on incorrect responses.
This module reflects my professional background in international residential camp programme management, bringing authentic subject matter expertise to instructional design.
